China’s State Council Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office on Sunday congratulated Sam Hou Fai on his election as Macao’s chief executive designate.

Sam was elected by an overwhelming majority as the sixth-term chief executive-designate of China’s Macao Special Administrative Region, pending appointment by the Central People’s Government.

The office stated that the successful conduct of the election not only demonstrates Macao society’s strong support for “One Country, Two Systems,” but also reflects widespread recognition of Sam Hou Fai’s character, capabilities and vision.

The office highlighted the election’s significance, noting that it enhances social unity and promotes the principle of “patriots administering Macao,” and helps advance the successful practice of “One Country, Two Systems.”
