A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Tuesday slammed the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s accusation of a cyberattack.
According to reports, the U.S. Department of the Treasury said on Monday that “Chinese government-backed hackers” had breached the department’s computer security fences this month, gaining access to some unclassified documents.
Responding to the claim at a regular press briefing, spokesperson Mao Ning said China has repeatedly expressed its stance on such groundless accusations that lack evidence.
China has always opposed all forms of hacker attacks and condemns the dissemination of false information against China for political purposes, the spokesperson said.
