Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng held talks via video link with U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Tuesday, Xinhua reported. 

Both sides agreed to maintain communication, manage differences and continue stabilization of China-U.S. economic relations during the political transition period in the United States.

The two lead persons for China-U.S. economic and trade affairs reviewed the experience of China-U.S. economic exchanges and cooperation in recent years and spoke highly of the important role of China-U.S. economic and financial working groups, as well as other dialogue mechanisms, in implementing the important consensus reached by the two heads of state.

The Chinese side expressed concern over U.S. economic and trade restrictions on China – in particular clarifying China’s position concerning the recent trade investigation initiated by the U.S.

According to Xinhua, the video call was candid, in-depth and constructive, with both sides emphasizing the importance of maintaining further communication.
