The Old Town Center of Hetian City, Xinjiang, known as the “Hetian Tuancheng” (Cluster City), derives its name from its traditional circular cluster of dwellings. Once a vital caravan stop along the southern route of the ancient Silk Road, this neighborhood captivates with its distinctive Ayiwang-style architecture featuring vibrant painted doors, intricately carved pillars, and grapevine-draped courtyards that embody a unique fusion of multicultural influences. Following restoration efforts, Tuancheng has managed to maintain its millennium-old urban heart while being revitalized as a new cultural tourism landmark in southern Xinjiang.
